September Newsletter
Written by Yonsu Park September is here, and with it comes a blazing heat wave! We hope everyone is staying cool. During the hotter months, it can be difficult and even dangerous to exercise outside. Still, it’s important that we stay active and keep our minds refreshed. Here’s where dance comes in: Dancing is a great indoor exercise that has incredible benefits for our physical and mental health. One study found that dance may be more effective than traditional exercise at improving motivation, well-being, memory, and social awareness. At the same time, it may help to reduce symptoms of depression. Recently, researchers have found even more promising results. Studies focusing on children and adolescents found that dance significantly decreased depressive symptoms. It also improved their self-esteem and brain function. As for the type of dance, conscious, free-flowing dance is especially effective in improving mood and confidence. Next time you’re feeling down, turn on some music and move your body. Based on the research, we are 98% sure you will feel better!
